RookThere is nothing better on earth than family!! We’re in Clarksville and I’m at my son’s house (Ben) and I’m watching all my boys, Ben, Thomas, Daniel, and Timothy playing cards with Jo Ann and Sebrina, Ben’s wife. It’s rare that we are actually all together at the same time in the same room. They’re playing that great Southern classic called Rook. Jo Ann seems to be beating them all. We had more snow today. It didn’t last long but it was nice to watch. We still have an hour drive home to Fairview and one stop at a friend’s house. He just got his book published. I’ll have to put something on the blog when I see the book.

19 Feb 2006 Snow Again !!

Another Middle Tennessee Snow! We probably got about 2 inches here in Fairview. We didn’t get to watch this one come down. It was well after midnight when it started and it stopped before sunrise. We woke up to a nice, carpet of snow everywhere. I have some pictures of the yard — just go to flickr to see them. I also added some pictures from Ben while he was stationed at FOB Remagen in Tikrit, Iraq. He’s here on leave for another week. We will be spending all day Sunday with him tomorrow in Clarksville. It will be the last I will see of him for probably about another 9 months or so. He’s doing great, though.

16 Feb 2006 Busy, busy, busy!

24 hours is not enough for a day! Well, I’m still at work and still have plenty to do. I guess it can wait until tomorrow but then tomorrow’s stuff will scream for my attention as well. I’ve got a birthday coming up for Daniel (19th). I need to remember and get him something. It’s good to have Ben home from Iraq. He’s enjoying his time with his wife and us. I got his laptop fixed. His keyboard was bad. He spilled food “juice” into it and it wouldn’t work. It’s a different kind of war nowadays. We can actually instant message him while he’s over there. The Iraqi’s actually provide them with internet access.

12 Feb 2006 Winter showed up — SNOW!

Snow, snow, snow! Well, it may only be 1 to 2 inches, but in Middle Tennessee, that’s enough. It was absolutely beautiful. We went and watched the move “Annapolis” in the middle of the “snow storm” and enjoyed the snow AND the movie. I left my camera in the car so I’m going to have to get it out and get some pictures before it all melts.

BenThe Warrior comes home today! Just got a phone call from Jo Ann. Our son is arriving today at the airport at 2:30pm. He’s been in Iraq now for 4 months. He’s coming home for a couple weeks of leave and then goes back for another 9 months. It will be interesting to see him again — wondering how war has changed him if at all. I would imagine he’s grown up quite a bit. I’m simply ecstatic he’s doing well and he’s safe. He’s been stationed at FOB Remagen but can’t tell us too much of what’s he’s doing. It will be wonderful to see him again and hear his stories of Iraq. Don’t believe the crap you hear on CNN and most other news agencies. What our son has been sharing with us so far is that a lot is getting done and the people there definately appreciate us being there. Anyway, keep checking back. I’ll update again very soon.

07 Feb 2006 Weekend Couch Potato

NetflixMovielinkSaturday Couch Potato. Even though the weekend was a full weekend, especially Sunday, Saturday was spent doing absolutely nothing but relaxing at home, watching movies, and some personal computer fun. I’ve upgraded WordPress (the blogging software you are using now). I watched an interesting movie. I thought it was pretty funny. It was called “Saint Ralph” and it was about a young kid who decides to win the Boston Marathon. He’s in a Catholic boarding school and, well, I’ll stop there. I don’t want to say too much about the movie. I enjoyed it. We use Netflix quite a bit, but I also like to download movies from Movielink as well. With Movielink, you will have to use IE if you want to use the site and download.

03 Feb 2006 Super Bowl Sunday Weekend

Team HelmetsPittsburgh Steelers vs. Seattle Seahawks. I am not a huge NFL fan during the year but I do always look forward to the Superbowl. I especially want to see the commercials (the humerous ones anyway). I have always been for the underdog (Seattle) but I’ve also always been a Steelers fan so this will be hard game to decide who I’m going for (I’m leaning towards Seattle).
