GeekIt’s official and we’re here in full geekage enjoying EVERYTHING computer and internet. We’re working on some computers for friends who need help getting them to work as well just plain playing around and talking tech. All the participants aren’t here yet but I will keep the blog updated. One of the things we will do today is design our official geek logo. Who knows where this will lead? We’re even thinking of having the meetings at the church in the fellowship hall and letting people bring in their computers for us to look at for repair.

06 Jul 2006 Joshua Chamberlain

Joshua ChamberlainOne really neat thing about having a wife who’s parents live in Topsham, Maine, is that we are only a mile from where Joshua Chamberlain’s house is located in Brunswick, Maine, just across the Brunswick-Topsham Bridge. The church, First Parish Church, where his father preached and Joshua attended is located there as well. His house is also located just across the street from Bowdoin College where he was a professor. His house is now a museum. Further down from the college is Pine Grove Cemetary where Joshua Chamberlain and some of his family are buried. To see pictures of the home, church, college, and gravesite, please visit my flickr website to see the images.

Topsham MillThe drive was long as always and it took roughly 1600 miles. Jo Ann is happy as can be. She’s always glad to see her Mom and Dad. Also, her sister Suzie is here as well. She’s just as nuts as always (all them Rollins are nuts!). The temperature is perfect at about 74 degrees. We’re absolutely loving it. I’m using the wireless at the Topsham Public Library. Anyway, I hope I can get some photography in while here. I’ll upload the pictures to my flickr account.

Sunny and Hot! I’m getting old. Sitting in sand in the heat of the midday sun is not high on my list of fun things to do. However, watching the boys have an absolute blast in the water was worth it. The water was cold but they got used to it pretty fast and spent several hours swimming and goofing off. Anyway, we’re off to Maine next. We have a long ride ahead of us today. We are currently in a little town called Pocomoke, Maryland in a hotel. Enjoy photos at my flickr page and have a great weekend.

01 Jul 2006 Goodbye, Raleigh!

We’re leaving Raleigh and heading for the Outer Banks. We’ve just had breakfast in the hotel and we’re ready for a great day. It looks like we’ll be experiencing the low 90s today. That should be great for the beach where there’s a steady light breeze. We’ll probably even see Kitty Hawk today. I remembered the camera this time so I should have pictures.

Well, we’ve made it to Raleigh, North Carolina. We are taking a new route this time. We are actually going directly east all the way to the Outer Banks. The boys want to see the ocean again and get a lot of swimming in. Hopefully, I’ll have plenty of pictures today for the blog and flickr. Keep watching!
