There are some advantages to living in the country — friends with farms. Sometimes, it’s nice to get away and just relax on the back porch, watch the chickens, and do absolutely nothing but sip on lemonade. Even getting on the tractor and mowing the field is a break. No serious thinking — just relaxing. That’s what we did for Labor Day. It was great. We had plenty of friends around and kids running everywhere. Oh, and let’s not forget the food — fried chicken, ham, steak, hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, and everything else you can think of. I won’t even mention the dessert selection. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pictures. I only took one or two — the rest were taken by our son Timothy. He did a great job. Click pictures below to see them on flickr.com

Finally, snow that stays on the ground for at least a day. The boys were definately excited. They didn’t have to go to school. We went out for a nice drive to Franklin and enjoyed the backroads. I took my Canon 20D to take some pictures but forget the battery charging in my office after taking pictures around the house. Not too smart. Anyway, if you want to see the set of pictures around the house, go here.
Tornadoes and hail, but we’re all okay! I never saw any tornadoes but it was the first hail storm I’ve seen I can remember. It was incredible. It lasted for about 10 minutes and it was constant downpour of hail — the size of a nickel. I was at Middle Tennessee Medical Center at work watching it through the front door. You just don’t see that every day. The picture is just one of the tornadoes that touched down here close to us in Middle Tennessee.
Another Middle Tennessee Snow! We probably got about 2 inches here in Fairview. We didn’t get to watch this one come down. It was well after midnight when it started and it stopped before sunrise. We woke up to a nice, carpet of snow everywhere. I have some pictures of the yard — just go to flickr to see them. I also added some pictures from Ben while he was stationed at FOB Remagen in Tikrit, Iraq. He’s here on leave for another week. We will be spending all day Sunday with him tomorrow in Clarksville. It will be the last I will see of him for probably about another 9 months or so. He’s doing great, though.
Snow, snow, snow! Well, it may only be 1 to 2 inches, but in Middle Tennessee, that’s enough. It was absolutely beautiful. We went and watched the move “Annapolis” in the middle of the “snow storm” and enjoyed the snow AND the movie. I left my camera in the car so I’m going to have to get it out and get some pictures before it all melts.
